DON’T LET UNREALISTIC STANDARDS DELAY A BLESSED MARRIAGE — Maulana Ishaq Madani Allah has promised His help to those who sincerely seek marriage in order to remain chaste. Therefore, do not keep waiting for everything to become “perfect” before considering marriage. Many young people delay marriage because of unrealistic expectations—education, career, status, wealth, appearance, or a long list of demands. As these expectations increase, suitable opportunities may pass, and people can end up delaying marriage for years. Parents should also approach this matter with wisdom. If a suitable proposal comes from a person who is religious, responsible, respectful and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of marriage, it should not be rejected merely because he does not meet every social or material expectation. The Prophet ﷺ said: “O young men, whoever among you is able to marry, let him marry, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity.” — Sahih al-Bukhari 5066; Sahih Muslim 1400 The Qur’an also encourages the community to facilitate marriage: “Marry off those among you who are unmarried…” — Qur’an 24:32 Marriage should not be treated as a competition for status or perfection. Choose with wisdom, consult your families, consider character and responsibility, and do not make unnecessary demands that turn a lawful and blessed path into an endless wait. May Allah make marriage easy for those who sincerely seek it, grant parents wisdom, and bless young people with righteous and compatible spouses.
