I’ll go first- Don’t focus on the day, look at the week, month, or season. ✨ When my first child was a toddler, my pediatrician shared a gem of advice. She and I were talking about what my 2-year-old was eating, but her words stuck with me for so much more, including biking: ‘Don’t stress about what he eats in a day; look at the week as a whole.’ That advice became my mantra through every phase of teaching my kids to bike—balance biking, pedal biking, now mountain biking. Instead of zeroing in on a single tough ride, I remind myself to think about the bigger picture. Skills, confidence, patience, joy… they all ebb and flow. Some days, my kids are in the zone, and other days, we’re carrying bikes through tears. And honestly, my patience? Same story. It’s all part of the process, one that goes from age 2 to... well, forever, I hear. In other words, if gauging their interest or ability, or your connection amidst it all, take in the whole season, not just the day. Which leads me to my second nugget: biking is about connection. It’s about helping our kids build belief in themselves, exploring the world together, and embracing moments with our bodies in motion outdoors. If we can do that—even half the time—we’ll set them up for a lifetime of joy on two wheels and so much more. So, make it fun. Support their needs, their fears, their joys. Learning to bike isn’t linear—it’s a series of waves, big and small, moving forward, backward, and in every direction. And that’s what makes it an adventure where you grow together. If you are just starting with biking with your kids, or upgrading to the next phase, I share a lot of biking content and we are a @woom bikes family. DM me for advice and a code for $50 off a purchase of $249 or more. Woom bikes and the woom community is worth the investment in my opinion. #askaquestion #ParentingJourney #kidbike #adventuremom #familybikeride
