They show what the water level will be throughout the day, including what time high tides will arrive. Alternate routes: If we can’t get through on the beach because of high tide, we either wait it out or take an alternate route around. Toilets: Some coastal areas have specific rules for depositing human waste. Slow movement: Hiking on the beach is usually slower than on other surfaces. There’s plenty to explore, so the reduced pace doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Camping: To safely camp near the ocean, we look for evidence of how high the tide will rise overnight. This includes maps, tide charts, possibility of storms, sand patterns, and driftwood. #beach #backpacking #Hiking
