Just to name a few: 1. Have you tried getting on birth control? *yes in high school and it completely wrecked my body inside and out. My hormones were out of wack, I didn’t feel like myself, I developed chronic acne, and so much more. I got off it a few years later and never went back! 2. So did your PCOS go away when you lost weight? *NO! Doctors are always so quick to say just lose weight, but there is currently no cure for PCOS. It will not go away forever, but there are ways to manage your symptoms to make life easier* 3. So all women with PCOS are have insulin resistance? *No. there are different types of PCOS and insulin resistance is only one of them, but it is the most common. Other types include Inflammatory PCOS, Lean, Adrenal, or Post-Pill PCOS* 4. Just cut out sugar, but you’re probably too scared! *This was actually a comment made to me today!! That statement is so arrogant and easier said than done. I grew up being a major sugar addict and if you look at my current diet compared to the past, it looks completely different. I only recently had my eyes opened to the powerful impacts of food and gut health so l am making small changes to implement long term habits. (I could do a whole video diving into the arrogance behind this comment) * 5. PCOS impacts physical aspects only like facial hair, weight gain, and irregular periods. *While those symptoms are the most common, women with PCOS are more at risk for heart disease, diabetes, and mental health disorders like anxiety and depression* Other examples are: “Women with PCOS are always infertile” “IVF is the only option” “PCOS only affects women who are overweight” “PCOS must mean you have ovarian cysts” What else am I missing ⬇️
