This is Daisy. 🌼 After her spay surgery, she was losing weight, stopped eating, and became lethargic. We pulled her from the adoption floor, placed her into foster care where she started exhibiting concerning symptoms, the wobbling and falling over were the most concerning. We did bloodwork and it all came back relatively normal, except her albumin/globulin ratio was 0.6, which seemed to potentially indicate FIP, but it was not a definitive answer or diagnosis. Dry FIP is harder to diagnose than Wet FIP and can come in different forms, including Neurological (brain) or Ocular (eye). Due to the sudden onset of symptoms, with the help of our vet and fipglobalcats advisor, we started her on injections hoping they would help. A few hours after her first injection she started feeling well enough to play with her toys, she hadn’t felt well enough to play for over a week. We were thinking it was a total coincidence, there was no way the drugs could possibly work that fast. Especially after what happened with Pisces, we honestly doubted the efficiency of the FIP drugs. On her 4th day of FIP treatment, her appetite came back and she put on a full pound since starting treatment! She has completely stopped wobbling and falling over since starting treatment. She has a long road ahead, with 80 more days of FIP treatment left. Due to her symptoms and her fast response to the medication, our team thinks she has dry neurological feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). We hope that, with continued treatment, she can be cured. ❤️
