I know you can dry brush foam with browns and you can use a pin to scrape copper paint off of tin

I actually use fabric dye for most of this since the paint can crack and flake that and it goes onto the fabric way better, apply the same as paint

For real looking rips and tears, put your fabric on a brick/rock and scrape another rock across it.
