I come off in a very confident way on social media most of the time, but in all honesty lately I have been nervous as hell. It is my first year as a junior, first time competing nationally as a 63kg, and first time competing with millions of people watching me. There has been so many times these past 2 months where I have been so overwhelmed with life that I have just wanted to quit social media because of the hate, because of the pressure, because of what people think. I failed 402 today, then proceeded to fail 396lbs (4lbs over my current best). I put my heart and soul into lifting, and when I fail a lift it hurts, I get emotional, I cried in the bathroom of my gym after i failed. Balled my eyes out. But that is OK. Failure, feelings, nerves, are all so normal, and valid. It has been a rough day today if I’m being completely transparent. I wanted 402 so badly. And have been working my ass off to get there. After having a few hours to collect my thoughts, I remembered why I started. Why I do this, why I post on social media, my purpose, my story, my reason. I will not let the pressure put on me by myself, society, haters, etc. let me stop doing what I love. And yes I did fail 402lbs today, but now I have the motivation to work harder and kill that shit the next time I touch that weight. Basically what I’m saying is that we all have bad days, it’s how we overcome and look at those bad days that determine the outcome of our success. Enjoy the journey, and buckle up for the ride. Except the uncomfortable, even when that means failing. And most importantly never give up.
