To me, in a sense everything starts with a geometrical shape when it comes to drawing. With cars, they’re rectangular boxes. So at the start of each piece I make, it’s usually beginning with a 3D rectangular box. When it comes to the perspective, you can morph the shape of the box to allow it to be distorted, like as if you’re looking at a car through a fisheye lens by giving it slight curvature with the wrist. I tend to love doing this even though I only do it every now and then only due to how difficult it can sometimes be to make a box with a slight curve. Nonetheless, the same ideas apply. I’ll add circular ovals for the wheels ( due to the angle we’re viewing the car at, ovals are more ideal than perfect circles ) and cross two intersecting lines for when we’re ready to create the rim and center caps. Within the box I add more lines through the middle and across the body to add as references points for the tail lights, doors, mirrors, trunk etc. Atp many wonder how the s2000 goes from a box into an s2000. And if I can put it simply, it’s just a matter of keeping a watchful eye on a reference to follow the body lines, panel lines, and measuring the distance between itself and other body panels around it, along with the wheels, lights, pillars of the car ( this one is a vert so it’s a bit harder to measure distance without windows ) and the overall proportions of the car from front to back. This is when you step back and take a look at what it looks like.. and it’s just repeating trial and error from there. The way to get a good base is to apply line after line until everything lines up perfectly. Pt.2 on texture coming shortly. #cars#honda#s2000#sketch#art
