Holding hands with a dinosaur! In the water with Big Mac and heās trying to use his cute little dinosaur handsš. As cute as heās being, I like to remind everyone I am always one slip away from him ripping my hand off and eating it in front of me without remorse. Heās only a few months out of the wild and will always have his wild instincts, never try anything in my videos. ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that wouldāve otherwise been destroyed. The state of Florida destroys 8,000 ānuisanceā gators annually, but we donāt have a nuisance gators problem but rather a nuisance HUMAN problem. 1k people a day move to FL, unsustainably developing the land, and a lot of ignorant people making a nuisance out of themselves. NEVER feed a wild gator, never have kids or pets near the water, and never swim in gator habitat! And of course, never attempt anything you see in my videos! If you would like to donate to the care of the sanctuary animals, we greatly appreciate any support!! Zombie fungus in Florida! This ant was taken over by cordyceps fungus, Ophiocordyceps turns ants into natureās very own mind-controlled hosts, guiding them to spread the spores before meeting their end. A chilling reminder of how powerful and strange nature can be! šæš #NatureFacts #ZombieFungus #Cordyceps #Ants #FloridaNature #animaleducation #scicomm #educational
They call me āDances with gatorsāš. Working with Big Mac and getting him used to being held and handled. ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that wouldāve otherwise been destroyed. Caiman vs gator! What are some of the differences? Can they live together? Spectacled caiman are native to central and South America but were introduced into south Florida through the pet trade. They have been established in fourth Florida since the 1950s. As an invasive species, they pose a threat to native wildlife by competing for habitat and prey, further complicating the delicate ecosystem of the Florida Everglades. When found they are typically destroyed and itās illegal to keep them in Florida without a permit, but since I have permits we are able to take him in at the sanctuary! ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that wouldāve otherwise been destroyed. When youāve got a gator by the tail, remember they can spin right around and bite your hand on the tail! This is something I teach early on when training an apprentice, I often see people get tunnel vision and death grip the tail, forgetting the gator will turn around and bite its own tail with your hand on it! Iāve seen this almost happen many times. Or they hold too tight and the force of the spin can throw you off balance or into the jaws. I donāt often get to show off my wild gator handling skills anymore since my focus is now on rescue and training, but itās fun to remember my gladiator daysš. Gaston was showing how excited he was for surgery yesterday! After this I caught him and we taped him up and had a successful surgery removing the foreign body in his colon. This was filmed in landscape, and Iāll have the full video of the day out in a week or so. ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that wouldāve otherwise been destroyed.
