only works if the second digit is a 5 (easy proof) better to split it into (20 + 5) ^2 and then expand to get 20^2 + 2x20x5 + 5^2 = 400+200+25

it’s just 2*(2+1) and 25 so 625; 35^2 is 3*(3+1) and 25 so 1225, 45^2 is 2025, etc.
