This is what small independent restaurants are facing. 💔 Tonight at Fava Pot Tyson’s, something happened that broke my heart. A customer came in with a friend and ordered five meals, her friend ordered separately. This customer insisted on paying in cash. During their meal, one of our team members checked on them and asked how everything was. They said everything was excellent. They had already finished eating and had all of their leftovers packed up. Later, the customer asked for a full refund because she said she didn’t like the food. We respectfully declined. That evening, while my business partner @Stephen Samuels | VA Realtor was finishing workin facing the street, she came back, opened the containers, and deliberately threw the food across the sidewalk in front of our restaurant while directing profanity at us, then drove away. We are a small, independent restaurant. Every day, our team works hard to serve good food and take care of our customers. We welcome feedback, and when we make a mistake, we do our best to make it right. But deliberately wasting food, expecting a full refund for 5 meals, leaving a mess for our staff to clean up, and verbally abusing restaurant workers is not okay. To my fellow restaurant owners: have you experienced something like this? How do you handle situations like this? And to everyone who continues to support independent restaurants — thank you.
