"I was working night shift sa BPO. Real talk. During breaks, habang kumakain ng convenience store food sa pantry, nagscroll ako sa Facebook at TikTok. May bagong VA na nakakuha ng first client. May dating BPO agent na work from home na ngayon. May nagpost ng home office setup niya. Save. Save. Save. Then mag-aalarm yung break ko. Back to calls. “Thank you for calling. How can I help you today?” And for another eight hours, makakalimutan ko muna yung buhay na gusto kong subukan. Almost one year akong ganito. Interested sa VA work, pero never really starting. To be fair, nagtry naman ako mag-aral. Nanood ako ng tutorials about email management, Canva, social media, at kung anu-anong VA niches. Then dumating yung AI. Suddenly, everyone was talking about ChatGPT. Then Claude. Then Gemini. Tapos may automations pa. One morning after shift, umabot ako sa point na may 27 tabs akong naka-open sa laptop. Hindi exaggeration. May YouTube tutorials, Google Docs, free courses, Reddit threads, at job posts. I looked at everything and thought, “Ano ba talaga yung dapat kong aralin?” So I closed the laptop. And for another few weeks, wala na naman akong ginawa. Until one night during break, may nakita akong Facebook post about Josie AI app. Normally ise-save ko lang din sana. Pero sabi ko, “Sige nga.” I downloaded it before my break ended. Pag-uwi ko that morning, binuksan ko yung app instead na manood ng another random tutorial. Dun ko nakita yung VA roadmap. And for me, yun yung malaking difference. Hindi na ako naghahanap every day ng “What should I learn to become a VA?” May direction na akong sinusundan. I started with the foundational VA skills, then moved into how AI tools actually fit into client work. With ChatGPT, I practiced content planning and professional communication. With Claude, I practiced research, analyzing long documents, summaries, and SOPs. With Gemini, I practiced researching and organizing information for different client tasks. Pero this time, ayoko nang maulit yung puro consume lang. So I made one rule: If I learn it, I have to build something with it. After learning content planning, gumawa ako ng sample content calendar. After learning research, gumawa ako ng competitor research report. After learning documentation, kumuha ako ng messy notes and turned them into a proper SOP. Some of my first outputs were bad. May content calendar akong tiningnan ulit after three days tapos sabi ko, “Ano ba tong ginawa ko?” So I redid it. And weirdly, dun ako mas natuto. Eventually, may actual projects na akong naka-save sa laptop. Ginamit ko yung portfolio templates inside Josie para ma-organize yung best ones and explain what I did, what tools I used, and how I approached each task. Hindi pa sila paid client projects. But they were mine. Ako yung gumawa. Ako yung nagresearch. Ako yung nagkamali at umulit. Then one night, lunch break na naman. Same pantry. Same uniform. Same headset waiting for me sa station. May dumaan na naman na VA success story sa feed ko. Pero this time, hindi ko siya sinave. I opened my own portfolio instead. May tatlong projects pa lang. Marami pa akong kailangang matutunan. And yes, babalik pa rin ako sa calls after break. Pero may difference na. Hindi na lang ako nanonood ng ibang tao na nagsisimula. Nagsimula na rin ako."
