the deer holds a very spiritual place when it comes to bullseye (wilson bethel’s in particular) and there are many reasons for this. the second to last bullseye scene in bornagain that we saw portrayed a dynamic of power between vanessa and dex. poindexter was willing to go to lengths to please wilson fisk and vanessa knew this, one example is when dex used violence to get the white painting for them. now deer’s are known for being targeted, exploited and sometimes they can even exhibit predatory behavior and in this case dex was the prey leaving vanessa being the hunter in some sights (specifically in the mental hospital scene). my personal opinion when it comes to that scene i can say for certain that it is the worse condition we’ve seen dex in mental wise and again vanessa saw that and took advantage of it even to the point to where she took his meds knowing the drowsy state he was in, a perfect example of exploitation. now to the positive traits revolving the deer, two i wanted to put most were innocence and intuition mainly the innocence siding with kid dex and even intuition at sometimes with him being neglected by his parents. overall i see the deer as a symbol of bullseye and a perfect representation (in spirit animal form) of what he’s been through his whole life.
