NO DPF… and it still passed the NCT emissions test?! 😳 I genuinely didn’t believe this until we came across it ourselves. We sometimes take cars in as trade-ins that have been heavily modified by previous owners — and this BMW was one of them. Nearly 500 bhp from a 3.0 diesel, heavily mapped… and the DPF had been removed. To be clear: I’m NOT a fan of removing the DPF and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend doing it. But what surprised me was what happened at the NCT. The car still passed the emissions test. 🤯 It also raised an interesting point about some diesel BMWs and Audis fitted with a soft rev limiter, where the engine won’t freely rev beyond a certain point while stationary. It’s one of those things that sounds unbelievable until you actually see it happen.
