Actually the first start to ice cream was in Rome when they had slaves go get snow from a nearby mountain and they would mix it with honey to get it

They used frozen water and salt to get the freezing point below 0C. It goes much faster then you think.

I think one of the first ways to make ice cream was with whipped egg whites+sugar and then boiled in hot water and then they would make like topping
