🚨 Roblox is calling its new age verification rollout a child safety update, but it shouldn’t necessarily change the answer on whether your kid should be on there. Here’s what the update actually does. A face scan estimates your child’s age and sorts them into Roblox Kids, Roblox Select, or a standard account, then limits who can message them. More accurate age sorting? Maybe. But that was never the real problem. 👇 The real problem is documented. Roblox is facing child safety lawsuits from multiple state attorneys general, including Texas, plus Los Angeles County. They allege the platform exposed kids to inappropriate and explicit content, and let adults reach and target them. Dozens of cases are now consolidated in one federal court. ⚖️ This isn’t a minor issue either. LA County’s filing states that nearly 75% of US kids ages 9 to 12 play Roblox regularly. 😳 So does the face scan eliminate the risk of your child being targeted? No. 👤 The scan only guesses age, and kids are already beating it with photos and resold accounts. Most grooming starts with an adult posing as a peer, then moves to a different app. Age bands don’t catch that.
