The whole reason you use the different ones is for dry you can pack and scrape the top it would be a lot harder in a big measuring cup

thats from when imperial cups & US cups were common. i have my moms 1960s imperial set. most recipes will work if you stick with one kind of cup.

They are the same but when using the “dry” cups for liquids it forms a dome on top of it making for more liquid then needed.
