I’m really shocked that the neurologist nor my family Dr have given me any opportunity or information for me to access further support. They just gave me mild cognitive impairment also called borderline dementia and sent me on my way. This is not acceptable. There are many different options, but nobody has told me about them. One thing I’ve discovered is that if you apply for MAID with cognitive impairment, you have to go through track too and that entails a 90 day assessment that includes discussing things like palliative care. If I could access something like palliative care, it could help manage the excessive anxiety and restlessness that I feel thus making my quality of life better. But doctors I think are afraid or something to mention these options. I’m so grateful that I still have capacity to prepare and to manage these things for myself. But what about people who are diagnosed much later and I’ve completely lost the ability to access and approach different support systems. #medicalassistanceindying @Alzheimer’s Association #mildcognitiveimpairment #youngonsetdementia
