Just in case you weren't brought up Catholic (like me) some extra info: Jesus was supposed to be born in the year 0 and crucified in spring time when he was 33 years old. In 2009 NASA published the complete data set of all the eclipses over 5000 years, from 2000BCE - 3000CE. You can go and look at it yourself (https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/solar.html ) They were made by Fred Espenak and Jean Meeus. Fred Espenak is lovingly referred to on that site as

Neither of them set out to find the crucifixion date btw, that was proposed by Colin Humphreys and W.G. Waddington. You can read their Nature paper for their justification: "Dating the Crucifixion", 1983.
