Some hypercars are built to set records. The Huayra BC was built as a tribute. Unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the BC carries the initials of Benny Caiola, the first customer Pagani ever had and a close friend of founder Horacio Pagani. Caiola passed away in 2010, and he spent years pushing Horacio to build more track-focused cars, so the BC became the perfect homage to his passion for driving. Under the carbon fibre bodywork sits the familiar 6.0L twin-turbocharged V12 from Mercedes-AMG, retuned to produce 800 PS, or 789 hp, and 1,100 Nm of torque, about 60 PS more than the standard Huayra. But power was never the main story. While rivals turned to hybrid technology, Pagani stayed true to a simple recipe: drop weight and add power. The BC has a dry weight of just 1,218 kg, 132 kg less than the regular Huayra, thanks to a Carbo-titanium monocoque, a new material called carbon triax and a titanium exhaust. Power goes to the rear wheels through a completely redesigned seven-speed Xtrac automated sequential gearbox, which shifts in around 75 milliseconds, twice as fast as the unit in the standard car. The BC also gets Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, aluminium suspension components, Öhlins dampers and an electronic active differential, along with an extended front splitter, large canards, bespoke side skirts, a huge rear wing and a bigger diffuser. Inside, the cabin is more spartan, with sportier seats and fewer frills, keeping the focus on driving. Inspired by the Zonda R and Zonda Cinque, it remains fully road legal, with a top speed estimated around 220 mph. Only 20 units were ever built, each priced at roughly 2.3 million euros, and every one was sold before the car even reached the public. In a world of turbos, batteries and screens, the Huayra BC is a reminder that obsession, lightness and Italian craftsmanship can still be the ultimate recipe. #hypercar #supercar #sportcar #carsoftiktok
