I did a “Phone Daycare” and bribed them to use it by putting it near a power strip so they could charge their phones! That was high school.

I teach HS math and the only way they can borrow a calculator is if they put their phone up at the charging station. No one leaves until all clear.

I’ve also had teachers just require the phones to be ON desks, face down, so they could see we weren’t on them.
