Second time trying the Kristin Ess High Instant Gloss, and unfortunately… I’m still not impressed. The texture is this jelly/slimy consistency, but it spreads really easily through the hair. And I have to give it credit for the scent. It’s berries, vanilla, and florals and it actually lingers on the hair. This is easily my favorite thing about the product. For the treatment, the instructions say to use it after shampoo + conditioner and leave it on for 60 seconds. I wanted to give it the best chance, so I used my regular shampoo and mask, followed with the gloss, and then finished with conditioner as my last step. And the result? Meh. I didn’t notice any additional shine, glossiness, or softness. If anything, my hair felt a little drier afterward, even though I used all of my usual wash and after-wash products. What’s funny is that the conditioner from this same line is actually SO much better. I’ve already repurchased it twice. So I know this line is capable of making a product I enjoy but the gloss just isn’t it for me. Maybe it performs differently on other hair types, but on my hair, I’m not seeing the “instant gloss.” The scent: 10/10.
