Jon just can’t cope with avatars of the unknowing… SONG USED -> https://youtu.be/121EhrgppNw?is=2J1OJnlXlxqfcDj5 Thought this animation idea would be a good way to showcase all four of the big bad monsters I’ve designed thus far based on some of the avatars in the Magnus Archives!! Also a nice way to practice my lip sync / puppet animation technique. All character artwork is available to view on my community tab if you guys want to gaze at them in more detail xD For those unfamiliar with TMA, it is a horror podcast available on both YouTube & Spotify, following Jonathan Sims who is the newly hired head archivist of The Magnus Institute, an organisation dedicated to collecting and archiving people’s statements regarding encounters with the paranormal. This animation is based more on Jon’s specific discomfort when dealing with “The Unknowing”, the fear of the unknown, uncanny valley, taxidermy, dolls, clowns etc. Not-Sasha and Nikola belong to this fear. Spoilers below -> Characters featured, in order of appearance. Jonathan Sims - Goat (mixed breed) Jon is the head archivist of the institute and is the one being tormented by all of these horrific monsters. Jane Prentiss - Roe Deer Jane Prentiss is the first ‘big bad’ Jon properly encounters in S1. She is infested with a hive mind of parasitic worms/maggots. She belongs to the corruption which is the fear of disease, rot, bugs, etc. Not-Sasha - *Taxidermy Wolf (in sheep’s clothing) Not-Sasha is an entity which replaces Jon’s coworker, Sasha, in S2. My design for Sasha is a sheep. This entity has the ability to completely replace the original in memories, photos, appearance etc, but deliberately leaves out one or two people so it can feed off their fear of knowing so blatantly that this thing is not the same person they once knew. My design for Not-Sasha passes extremely well, initially, as a sheep, except for her uncanny wolf eyes and sliiightly longer mouth than normal. However, her real “monstrous” wolf form is released. Micheal Distortion - Heron / Cocker Spaniel The distortion belongs to the spiral which is the fear of going mad. While visually alarming Micheal is relatively passive towards Jon rather than aggressive. It is more curious than anything. The distortion itself is a heron like creature, with additional arms sprouting from above its wings. It has merged unnaturally with a previous victim it attempted to consume, Micheal Shelley, who was a cocker spaniel in life. Because of this it appears to wear a stretched dog skin over itself, but this is against its will and it hates being Micheal. Nikola Orsinov - *Taxidermy Leopard Seal Nikola is a monster created by a previous avatar of The Unknowing. She is a sentient taxidermy leopard seal, with limbs crudely attached to her sides, like a doll. Yes, her “tail” is still her feet, technically. Please don’t lecture me on seal anatomy the choice is intentional. She is the ringmaster of The Unknowing’s ritual, and attempts to steal Jon’s skin for it x Elias Bouchard - Great Horned Owl He is Jon’s incompetent boss :) *ALL avatars of the unknowing in my au are sentient taxidermy animals, apart from Gregor Orsinov who I imagine to be a very stupid penguin x #tma #themagnusarchives #tmafandom #art #animation
