This is why hair color consultations matter so much 😭 My client said she didn’t like the warmth in her brunette hair… but she also liked how light the warmth made the color look. And that’s where hair color gets confusing for clients. It’s my job as the Hairstylist to explain color theory as simple and plainly as possible. Warm tones can make hair look brighter, lighter, and more reflective. So when we neutralize warmth with a cooler brunette toner or demi permanent color, the hair can suddenly look darker even if it’s technically the same level. So sometimes the consultation isn’t just: “Do you like warmth or not?” It’s: “Do you like the warmth… or do you like how light the warmth makes it look?” Because those are two very different things behind the chair 😂 Hairstylists, have you had this exact conversation during a brunette color consultation?
