I was heading into the basement to look for some old photo albums my mom asked me to bring up. The bare lightbulb buzzed above me, casting a weak circle of yellow across boxes and dusty furniture. While rummaging, something thin and curled slipped out from between two books and fluttered to the floor. It was an old photograph, edges frayed, colors faded. A young girl in the photo, hands clasped in front of her, staring at the camera with unsettling intensity. I didn’t recognize her. I pushed it gently. At first, it looked like she was lying across the bed but something was wrong. Her arm hung lifelessly, fingers brushing the floor. I stepped closer, heart pounding, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. There was movement beside the bed small, quick figure crouched low, back turned. A chill ran up my spine when I saw the black nightgown, the same one from the photo still clutched in my hand. I didn’t stay long enough to understand. I ran, while calling the police. Later that day the police found nothing left behind from the killer. As the next day meeting with the police they said trauma can distort memories, that shock makes the mind invent faces, details, I left understanding what they mean. But after that night, sleep wouldn’t come. Every time I closed my eyes, I pictured the girl’s knees bent at impossible angles, her face covered but her eyes and mouth. Eventually exhaustion won as I passed out on the couch, When morning came, sunlight hit something on the cafe table a necklace. My mom’s necklace. And beside it, a folded scrap of paper torn from a notebook. The handwriting was messy, uneven. “I see you.” My hands shook. I told myself someone was pulling a cruel prank, that grief was making me paranoid. But as I stared at the note, the air in the living rooms shifted, like someone exhaled behind me. The floorboard creaked softly. I didn’t want to turn around, I stood there staring forward in fear. Hands slowly came into view in front of my eyes. “I don’t want to die.” I said… - Thank you too @Snoopy_makes_vids for helping me make the story. - #fyp #analoghorror #scarystories #horror #creepy
