BLANC & BAR BLEU 📍De Burburestraat 4, 2000 Antwerpen This gem is the newest addition to the culinary city of Antwerp. Chef Ayt Ems already earned his stripes in Sint-Truiden. In 2021 his restaurant Blanc was rewarded with the titel "Discovery of the Year" from Gault&Millau and with a score of 14/20. But they moved to Antwerp because the concept better suits a vibrant city. And I am really happy about that, because this is definitely the newest fine dining place to be. Blanc & Bar Bleu is a complete concept. The experience starts in Bar Bleu, where you can either order cocktails and bar bites. Or if you're planning on eating at redtaurant Blanc, you can also start in the bar with a cocktail and the amuses bouches from the menu before entering the restaurant. The bites were so good & tasty, it is the perfect start of a culinery evening. The cocktails were surprising, pretty and delicious. After our amuses and cocktails we went to the first flour, to the restaurant part. It exists of an open kitchen with 6 tables. It feels really intimate and cosy. For dinner they serve a six course menu, available with paired wines. Blanc describes its kitchen as a classic French cuisine full of Anatolian and Mesopotamian influences and innovative techniques. Everything is made and served with so much detail. They even have paired bread with the first three courses. Also good to know: it's a real family business. Chef Ayt Ems works togheter with his son as a sous-chef, his wife bakes the bread, his other son and daughter in law make and shake the cocktails. And if you want to continue your evening, you can even book a room at their B&B Quartier Sud.
