I like the idea of a three day work week and a day volunteering for your community. Add in an UBI and you have a perfect society.

It's the Western/Protestant work ethic. Most people could work a few days, but people choose not to, because of trying to keep up with the Jones.

A lot of developing countries have defacto 1 to 3 day work weeks, because people culturally aren't motivated beyond having the basics.
