Let’s talk about the differences between modern day ships and the Titanic and what some folks fear when it comes to cruising. • In 1912, the Titanic was the biggest cruise ship (Ocean liner) in the world and one of the first ships with a swimming pool. The Icon has 7 pools. Not to mention the water parks. • The Titanic had to guys in the “crows nest” who’s job was to keep an eye on what was in front of the ship and its surroundings. The Icon and modern ships have detection systems that will see an iceberg miles away. Not to mention advanced radar navigation systems. You’re not gonna hit an iceberg. • Early Ocean liners didn’t have much for stabilizers while sailing. Modern day ships are equipped with advanced retractable fin stabilizers. These are constantly adjusting to the waves in rough seas. For the most part, you’re not going to feel much motion but no matter the size of the ship, you will feel movement here and there. For most people, it’s not enough for sea sickness. Yes, some folks are extra sensitive. If you’re one of those, take a motion sickness med and you’ll be just fine. • The Icon is almost as long as the Empire State Building is tall and almost 30 feet wider. Most people who have never seen a ship in person, do not comprehend how huge a ship is. So when people think that people are shoulder to shoulder on a “boat”, are very mistaken. • The lifeboats on the Titanic could hold 65 people per lifeboat. The lifeboats on the Icon or most modern ships will hold 450 people….each. So keep that in mind when you’re looking at a picture of a cruise ship. More ship facts later!! By the way, Icon is having a CRAZY sale going on for selected May dates. Unheard of prices. Hit me up!!
