Well some pigs have “seeds” or parasite eggs from what I’ve read. Maybe they realized they were causing desease and stopped eating them.

I always assumed it was likely related to health. Diseases transfer readily between pigs and humans. Poultry may have seemed miraculous to health

My friend who studies anthropology said it was something to do with people getting food poisoning from the pigs and so the religion at the time baned
