the generic American accent is very neutral, makes it easier on the vocal chords. it can put a lot of pressure if we sing in our speech accents

Only even country singers keep their American accent. Most artists use vowel substitution and lose their accent when they sing.

When I sing (badly) I keep my accent for some sounds eg in "gO" and "wAy" but drop it for some eg I would never sing "mEself" cos it just sounds weird
