Sheikh Ima Mawasem, the real Imam Muhammad Ahmad Issa (2) July, was born in the village of Abu al-Numrus in Giza Governorate to a poor family and was the first male to live, as seven of them died before him, followed by a brother and a sister. He was afflicted in the first year of life and lost his sight due to ignorance and the use of local prescriptions to treat his eye. Imam spent his childhood at the hands of Sheikh Abdul Qader Neda, head of the Sharia Association in Abu al-Numrus, and he had a strong memory. By chance, Sheikh Imam met Sheikh Darwish Al-Hariri, one of the most prominent music scholars. Sheikh Al-Hariri was impressed by his voice as soon as he heard it, and took it upon himself to teach him music. Sheikh Al-Hariri took his student to singing and music sessions, and his fame spread and he got to know the great singers and reciters, such as Zakaria Ahmed and Sheikh Mahmoud Sobh, and the Sheikh's life began to improve. In the mid-thirties, Sheikh Imam had gotten to know Sheikh Zakaria Ahmed through Sheikh Darwish Al-Hariri, so he stuck with him and Sheikh Zakaria sought his help in memorizing new tunes and discovering their weak points, as Zakaria Ahmed was bored and did not like memorization, so Imam continued with him for a long time and he memorized his tunes for Umm Kulthum before she sang them, and Imam was proud of this. Even Zakaria Ahmed's melodies for Umm Kulthum began to leak to people before Umm Kulthum sang them, such as

Even Zakaria Ahmed's melodies for Umm Kulthum began to leak to people before Umm Kulthum sang them, such as "Ahl Al-Hawa", "Ana Fi Intizarak", "Ah Men Laqaak Fi Awal Youm", and "Al-Awla Fi Al-Gharam", so Sheikh Zakaria decided to dispense with Sheikh Imam. This incident had an impact on changing the course of Sheikh Imam’s life once again when he decided to learn to play the oud, and he actually learned from Kamel Al-Homsany. Sheikh Imam began to think about composing, and he even composed lyrics and composed them. He began to move away from reading the Qur’an and turned into a singer, replacing his Al-Azhar clothes with civilian clothes. In 1962, Sheikh Imam Issa met his companion Ahmed Fouad Negm. Negm and Sheikh Imam got to know each other through a colleague of Negm’s cousin who was a neighbor of Sheikh Imam. He suggested to Negm that he go to Sheikh Imam and get to know him. Negm actually went to meet Sheikh Imam and they both liked each other. When Negm asked Imam why he did not compose, Sheikh Imam replied that he did not find words that would encourage him, and the duo between Sheikh Imam and Ahmed Fouad Negm began and a partnership was established that lasted for many years. It is considered that the direct role played by the poet Ahmed Fouad Negm in the Arab street movement is due to the genius of Sheikh Imam. In Ahmed Fouad Negm’s opinion, Sheikh Imam was like Abdel Wahab, a great and unique singer. Like other Egyptians, the defeat of the June 1967 war shook Imam, and a tone of mockery and defeatism prevailed in some of her songs, such as: “Thank God we fell under our blankets - How beautiful is the return of our officers from the line of fire”, “And my countrymen live, but there is nothing among them - An acquaintance that makes the alliance live”, and “I fell from hunger and comfort - The brown butting cow”, and this mocking, defeatist tone quickly disappeared and was replaced by another tone full of awakening and pride in Egypt, such as “Egypt, O beautiful nation - O mother of the turban and galabiya”. The poems of Najm, composed and sung by Sheikh Imam, spread like wildfire inside and outside Egypt. In the mid-nineties, Sheikh Imam, who was over seventy, had an impact on his isolation and seclusion in his modest room in the Al-Ghuriya neighborhood. He no longer appeared on many occasions as before, until he passed away quietly on June 7, 1995, leaving behind rare works of art. #fyp #musica #egypt #foryou #الشيخ_امام
