Makayla Lynn Brewster was born on February 16, 2008. Makayla was known for her love for volleyball, skateboarding, and butterflies. However in 2020 Makayla began getting bullied both in person and online. It all started when Makayla’s best friends boyfriend asked her for nudes. She refused to send any and this caused him to become upset and break up with Makayla’s best friend. He than started a rumor that Makayla was the one that made him break up with her best friend. The rumors began to spread very fast around the school and soon enough they reached Makayla’s friend group. Everyone at the school believed the rumors including her friends. The bullying became so bad that Makayla began having suicidal thoughts. However despite all of this none of Makayla’s family members knew about the bullying. On February 11, 2021 Makayla went to Walmart with her mother Angela to buy Valentines gifts for a few of her friends. After they went shopping Makayla watched her favorite movie with her mother before heading to bed early. No one knew what Makayla would do that night. Makayla ended up taking her own life that night as a result of bullying. After her passing Angela was informed about the bullying Makayla endured the months leading up to her taking her own life. Angela attempted to get the proof of her daughter’s bullying off of Makayla’s phone but ultimately failed. One of the detectives on Makayla’s case was a family friend to one of her bullies families. He wiped Makayla’s phone making it impossible for Angela to find the proof of the bullying that Makayla endured. Because of this Makayla’s case was closed and she was never able to get justice. Angela has not given up the fight though and continues to spread awareness about the impacts of bullying. She also encourages parents to normalize conversations with their children about mental health and feeling suicidal. #makaylabrewster #forever12 #mentalhealthmatters #bekind #stopbullying #bullyingawareness #bullyingprevention #suicideawarness #suicideprevention #teensuicidepreventionweek #4yearsinheaven
