A lot of people are worried about compression rising and the timing being off, you know they sell oversized gaskets so you don’t have to worry about it, like a head gasket .008 over sized

The problem is by taking too much off ( which he didn’t here) is it changes cam timing on OHC engines

the head is warped like that want the cam lobes be warped still even though you flatten the top affecting the clearance with the camshaft

I rebuilt a Subaru turbo ej20 engine and didn’t surface heads just cleaned. 125k miles and she goes in tmrw 😁 wish me luck

Is the head actually flat ? Or is it just a surface clean ? Like if you checked flatness of the head on a surface table in a free state.
