Social impact through science and engineering — that is what I aspire to achieve in all that I do. About 10 years ago I moved to Germany to pursue further studies to learn more about transporation and cities, and in search of a more stable life — after all, I could not depend on anyone else. I lived there for about 8 years. Life eventually became comfortable after going through the ups and downs of moving from one city to another every 2 years. I got the stability I wanted. My career was going well. But I felt like something was missing. I would always ask myself:

I lived there for about 8 years. Life eventually became comfortable after going through the ups and downs of moving from one city to another every 2 years. I got the stability I wanted. My career was going well. But I felt like something was missing. I would always ask myself: "Is this really what I want for the rest of my life?" "Is this really the potential I can reach?" Through months and months of reflection, and travelling back and forth between Philippines and Germany during the pandemic, I would often compare the differences in transportation and urban planning between Munich and Manila. Always thinking about the insane amount of time we're wasting in traffic in Metro Manila, and how this time could be used better for us all to become more productive in LIFE (not just work). More time to spend with friends. More time to spend with family. More time to learn that skill you have always wanted to learn. I knew there's a lot more room for me to help out people on a much bigger scale — give people's time back; that is the ultimate goal that I set. So I left the stability and took the risk and came back to the Philippines to see how far can I go to help the people in my own way leveraging all my abilities. Now, we've come a long way in last 2 years. Started my startup Mobility Vision+ and became the FIRST DOST Balik Scientist working with LGUs. Also have been spreading as much information through TikTok (I need to be more consistent!), interviews, talks, and direct discussions with politicians and citizens on the streets. The tough conversations others don't want to risk their careers for, we're doing that everyday. But of course we do it strategically. Things can be stressful a lot of times, but knowing that once we get everything right and the fact that the results of our work will have a great impact on people's lives, motivates and inspires me to wake up each day, and see what is the next solution I can work on to push our agenda further for better cities and transportation for us all!
