My message to Claude was blunt. You seem to have amnesia when it comes to the chat version, and I want to build on steady foundations right now. That prompt does three jobs. It names the problem in plain words so the tool knows what to fix. It asks Claude to pull together every relevant memory it already holds and to tell me honestly where the gaps are. Then it asks for a Claude.md file, a plain text page on your own computer that every new session reads before it says a word. Once that file exists, your history lives on your machine instead of inside one chat. The move for tonight is to open Claude Code and describe your frustration the way you would to a new hire who keeps forgetting your name. Tell it what you build, where the gaps have been, and that you want it learning from your feedback and adding to that file as you go. Close by asking it to reassure you that everything is organized to a T. If it says something is missing, good, now you know exactly what to hand it. Memory is a setup problem, and setup problems get solved once. I build this with people one on one, on their own laptop, in a single sitting.
