Amélie Klein :
My take is we don’t have enough information. We don’t know a lot about their relationship.

interesting, I think since the child understands the training and he is okay with it then its okay we need to hear from the child.

Agreed ; my question would be is this the way they interact only while training? Does the yelling/harshness leave once training is done ?

I think it would depend on if the child likes football, if he really gets why this exercise could be helpful, if he understands this guy's tone, etc..

This particular kind of training is also probably really good for avoiding injuries since it is basically prepping him for handling impact.

As a child athlete this is harsh. I remember coaches yelling like this and it wasn’t good for my self esteem.

I think this is fine as long as the kid always has the option to tap out, no consequences at any time.

3. What’s their relationship outside of this context? Personally, this type of thing would’ve left me extremely scarred. So I guess it depends.

This could be emotionally damaging if the father and the child don’t have a good relationship for after the training, but, we have merely a slice.

my ? would be if he is interested in training this hard because it's HIS goal or if he is doing this to PLEASE dads goal.

Yea football is terrible. I played myself and made a decision longtime ago my kids will never play. But this is ok.

If the kid enjoys the sport and wants to continue with it in the future this will prepare him as coaches tend to be loud. Loud doesn’t = mean / harsh.

my dad did something similar and it was really damaging. key difference was he was pushing me this hard at something I didn't want to participate in

As a PT.. this is too aggressive on this child’s body and joints at this age. I hope he’s having active play time to not overtrain his body 😳

I think if the kid wants to be there it’s ok, but hopefully it’s a coach and not a parent so the kid can have a separate space for training and home

I am curious why the child is shaking their arm and head at the end of each run as if to shake off the pain. 😳

This is literally what’s going to happen when the kid plays a real game. It’s not grooming, it’s not cruel. It’s football practice.
