Do you replace the o-ring every time you change your oil? Or can it be reused? Also - can I hand-tighten the oil tank cap? Or do I need a tool? Thx!!

my mechanic did the oil change but then just left the dipstick sitting on the engine. Glad I checked under the hood before I went out on the highway.
