THE KANKANDARA The Kankandara is a Japanese spirit (youkai) that takes the form of a woman with 6 arms as her upper half and a snake's lower half. The Kankandara was originally two separate entities: a Japanese shrine maiden and a huge serpent. The serpent terrorised the shrine maiden's village for a long time, devouring many of its citizens. The shrine maiden was determined to protect her village from the serpent and fought relentlessly against it. During one of their fights, the shrine maiden lost half of her body to the serpent. Upon witnessing this, the citizens thought that she would no longer be able to protect them from the serpent. So, they struck a deal with the serpent. They would sacrifice the rest of her body to the serpent in exchange for it leaving the village alone. The serpent was intelligent enough to understand and accept the deal, and it ate the rest of the shrine maiden's body. Afterwards, as promised, the villagers lived in peace for a while. However, not long after, a disturbing and unnerving creature started to plague the village. It was described as a woman with six arms and a snake's body as her lower half, it was named Kankandara. The Kankandara terrorised the village and it killed and sliced in half numerous people from the village one by one. The Kankandara is thought to be the shrine maiden's spirit who sought revenge after being betrayed by the same people she swore to protect. #analoghorror #urbanlegend #youkai #creepy
