I saved up for so long to take my mom here. I worked so hard to create this gown and everything was a dream. How to describe the Fêtes Galantes? A waking dream. For one night the ghosts of Versailles step down from their paintings and live again. They wind their way through the glittering crowds, footsteps stepping lightly hidden by the swish of taffeta across the floor. Feathers and jewels glint in the mirrors and the ghosts of the Chateau stare out at the crowd satisfied to see the splendor once again restored to the Hall of Mirrors. I never imagined that 13 years later I would be back in Versailles with my Mom. You could say my costuming journey started here, I went home to Singapore inspired to work on my presentation for University. As I stood in the Hall of Mirrors I thought, I wish younger me could see this. We never would have imagined being here right now. As the night drew to an end and the lights began to dim the eyes of the paintings seemed to follow the crowd. Whether it was a brush of feathers against my cheek or a faint goodbye my heart felt full of joy and light. What a night to remember. I have a few thanks here: @adamjamesphillip was the mastermind behind my wig and words cannot express my absolute thanks for the masterpiece I wore. #fetesgalantes
