Fun fact socialism means everybody pays so everybody benefits. Why someone thinks it's fine to see other suffer is beyond me.

To be clear I did have support from the govt until I was 18 in terms of health insurance. But I reallycould’ve used money for food and school supplies

Taxes in the Netherlands are damn high though. Yeah we have it good and all but if you want to be rich: go somewhere else

Thank you for sharing this, it is more relatable for many Americans to know this perspective too. I have no health care still even with health problms

I’ve always wondered what Americans think of the system in the NL, I’ve heard so much that US citizens don’t like paying taxes

Paying my taxes has always felt like a point of pride for me - look, I'm funding schools and hospitals and well paved roads and food and medications!

I'm Finnish. I have been a hard worker, and I have been a stuggling addict. My country didn't let me down when I was down, and now I'm studying.

The thing that Republicans will never understand is that most other people don't share their ingrained individualism. Their world is zero sum

I'm a Brit who grew up poor and had a lot of support. I'm happy to pay taxes to help others get what I got. 🥰

You are totally correct. Most Americans just do not seem to get this, and if you try to explain it you get labeled as "socialist", whatever that means

Always. It’s just money. I have enough, and that’s enough. Everyone should have enough, and I will help, gladly.

Americans saying that they don’t want socialised support services confuse me. Every other country that has it in place is doing just fine.
