I see no issue with using the drill on the tap but that buzz at the start makes me skin crawl every time haha

Quench the bolt with a wet rag after welding. I have a cheap flux core welder that got manifold studs out of a JD B head using that method.

Old JD two cylinders are awesome. Our farm started with them. It’s incredible how far tractors have come in 70 years. We now run Fendt(Deutz and Mann)

I did 14 broken bolts in a 5.9 cummins head for power unit just the other day. It’s definitely part of the job when a head or block is fixed

Impact is a bad idea cause you can quickly create double threads or chattered threads prone to strip. Hand only.
