Why not just get a 30 year mortgage and pay it as a 15? That way you can pay it off in 15 but you have a back plan up if your income changes

if you can afford the 15 take the 30 and take the difference in mortgage put in etf or fund whatever and make 8-10%. Long term win.

As well, you should calculate the net present value of what you would pay in 15 or 30 yr. life cost tends to go up. same money worth more today.

Longer loan is cheaper if interest rate is lower than what that money would have made invested elsewhere. Don't forget inflation during those 15 years
