Whilst in the thick of renovations and it can be very easy to lose sight of any sort of budget. So my fiancé challenged me to completely restore one of our guest rooms for just £500. The key to renovating/decorating on such a tight budget isn't "fast fashion" homeware or dupes that fall to pieces after a few seasons (when are they ever the key?). The best ways to save £££ are being brave with your DIY skills (you can do more than you think!), searching for pre-loved pieces that retain their quality and reusing decor that you already have lying around. Here's a breakdown of what I spent: 🪚 Panelling £80 - I stripped down two sheets of 12mm ply into 100mm lengths and glued them to the wall with no nails. 👷🏼‍♀️ Lime mortar £14.95 - once all the damp plaster was removed from the wall I repointed with my favourite breathable lime mix from Womersleys. 🎨 Paint £27 - I had a leftover tin of @farrowandball ‘skimming stone' so l used this and a fresh 'slipper satin’ for the panneling 🍄 Bedding £42 - a silver mushroom.com special of course, the Appleby bedding in natural is a lovely, affordable set that adds so much cottage charm 💡Etsy lamp £40 - 1 love this plug in rope lamp for adding height variation to the space, it simply plugs in so no tradies were needed! 🪑Furniture £75 - I found this beautiful in dresser on market place for which a steal! 🛌 Facebook Bed frame £100 - another absolutely amazing find!
