Context: Last month @FLAWS replied to a post that asked, “Do you ever randomly think about someone from your past and think, “I hope you’re well, wherever you are”? She talked about her childhood friend Nguyen, and how she had tried to find her years later, but was unsuccessful. After she posted her story, she got hundreds of comments from people all around the world sharing stories about their “Nguyen”. We also re-shared the post and got even more support from people trying to help find Nguyen. Sasha felt motivated to relook for Nguyen with all the amazing support from the community and ended up finding her on Facebook. “All I wanted was to be able to know if Nguyen was good and what her life lead to,” she said. “I didn’t expect it to be this big thing, because it was a small time, but she was my walking to school partner, not everyday, but some days. It was a blip, a moment in time, but the memory lived 22 years long.” Nguyen told us, “I’ve had people at work ask me, is that you? When I saw the post on Upworthy, the description of the child sounded exactly like me, but I was like, I’m not sure, is that me? and the rest is history! We are so happy these two amazing humans got to reunite in person.
