Sadly, things like this happened all over the south. Multiple areas in my city had neighborhood pools. After desegregation, they were all filled in.

There were multiple public swimming areas that were closed during segregation. They closed lakes as well, not just pools.

This happened where I live in atlanta too. There was a hug public swimming lake in Grant Park. Instead of integrating, they drained it.
