Yeah ASL is a language and since he was exposed to that early, he has that to build up on with hearing, speaking, and lip reading down the road.

Be sure you are saying the words with ASL. He will learn to read lips easier.

Since I do both. My boyfriend always ask me why I talk even though she can’t hear and I’m like “ because I want her to be able to lip read too”

yes, they both make sense. he had a year with only ASL, except maybe some lip reading, and he did not have the voice because I couldn't hear it.
