Dear Hardstyle, my first love 🫶🏼✍🏼👇🏼 I discovered hardstyle on youtube via a Headhunterz remix and started attending under 18’s hardstyle raves in Sydney with headliners such as Frontliner, Code Black, Wildstylez, Brennan Heart & Angerfist from the year 2013. Since then my love for this genre and scene grows stronger and stronger each year. Australia already has a thriving community but after the ban of Defqon Sydney following the 2018 incident, my heart knew I had to make it to the pilgrimage to the Netherlands. But the spicy cough and my overall life got in the way of me being able to do that. Fast forward to 2024 and attending the Defqon 1 20th anniversary is truly a full circle moment. It sounds silly but my dream was to experience this festival, enjoy the music that i adore so much and be in the birthplace of hardstyle alongside other dedicated members of the community. For a long time it was considered ‘weird’ to listen to the genre, but it never mattered to me what others thought of it. I knew it was ‘different’ and not everyones cup of tea, but persisted to continue sharing my favourite tracks and artists with everyone i know. It became somewhat of a passion project, highlighting all the colours of the harder styles. My heart is so full from the pure euphoria and energy from this weekend, and i’m still in shock processing the madness. DQ1 was nothing short of unforgettable and my dreams have finally come true.
