🇬🇧❤️ A beautiful Tamil tradition, a little princess, and memories to cherish forever! 👶🏻🙏 From London to Leicester, UK 🇬🇧 — at the beautiful Sithi Vinayagar Temple, we celebrated a 9-month-old baby girl’s traditional மொட்டை விழா, surrounded by the love and blessings of her family. 👶🏻✨ In Tamil culture, a baby's first tonsure is more than a haircut. It is a sacred family tradition filled with faith, blessings, love and generations of beautiful memories. ❤️ Why is traditional tonsure meaningful? ✨ 1. Cultural & spiritual significance: Families perform the ceremony as an act of devotion, gratitude and blessings for the child's healthy, happy future. ✨ 2. A new beginning: It symbolises a fresh start and the passing down of cherished customs from one generation to the next. Scientifically, shaving a baby's head does not make hair grow thicker or faster. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why தாய்மாமன் மடியில்? In Tamil tradition, the தாய்மாமன் (mother's brother) holds a special place in a child's life. Having the baby sit on his lap during the ceremony symbolises his love, protection, responsibility and blessings as part of the maternal family. 🥹❤️ Mum and Dad were understandably nervous and anxious, wondering whether their little princess would cooperate. With so many loved ones around — தாய்மாமன், மாமி, grandparents, uncles, aunties, relatives and friends — there was so much love, excitement and emotion in the room! As a mum of two, I understand the importance of patience, gentle handling and a mother's heart. With care, kindness and a calm approach, we completed this special ceremony peacefully and created beautiful memories for the whole family. 🥰🙏 💖 Why do parents choose me? Because this is more than a service to me. It is about understanding parents' emotions, treating every baby with patience and care, respecting our traditions, and helping families feel supported during a precious milestone. 🙏 Thank you to this lovely family for choosing me and trusting me with such an important cultural occasion. Your trust means the world to me! 👑🇬🇧 I am so proud to be the UK's first female Tamil traditional barber, carrying forward our beautiful Tamil heritage, customs and traditions for the next generation of Tamil families in London and across the UK. 👗✨ So many of you asked about my saree and jewellery! ❤️ I’m tagging the saree sponsor below — please visit her page, show some love and support her beautiful work. 📍 Sithi Vinayagar Temple, Leicester, UK 👶🏻 9-month-old baby girl's traditional tonsure ceremony ❤️ Culture • Family • Faith • Tradition • Memories தமிழர் பண்பாட்டைக் காப்போம்; அடுத்த தலைமுறைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்வோம்! 🙏❤️ With love, Your UK Tamil Traditional Barber 💖 #London #Leicester #UKTamil #TamilTradition #TamilCulture
