Ready to make the easiest drawer box ever?! Make sure you save this for later! (you won’t regret it 😉) • After you’ve installed the drawer slides, cut all your drawer side pieces. Usually I make mine about 1-2” longer than the drawer slide. • Install the side pieces with a spacer so the side piece is level during install. I install the front of the drawer slide with the front of the side piece. • Measure the distance between the two side pieces. I like using a measuring tape with all the little measurements on it so I can be accurate. • Cut the front and back piece and pocket hole the sides of both pieces. Check to make sure they fit before continuing the next step. • Take all the drawer box pieces and mark the bottom inside of all 4 pieces. This will be where you cut your grooves (or dados). • Cut the grooves about 1/4”-1/2” away from the bottom of the drawer pieces. Set your table saw blade to 1/4” height and make your passes on all 4 pieces. Shift your table saw fence over slightly, make another pass and check to see if your drawer bottom fits. If it does, yay! if not, that’s ok. Just keep shifting the table saw fence over slightly until you get the perfect fit. • Cut the drawer bottom to size. To calculate take the inside measurement of the drawer box (This will be the same size as your drawer front & back + 1/2” and the length of your drawer sides - the thickness of your boards (x2) + 1/2”.) • Now it’s time to build that drawer! Glue and screw the front of the drawer box to the sides. Using a 90 degree corner clamp really helps here! you want to make sure the box is square. • Slide the drawer bottom in and attach the back of the drawer box. Make sure the pocket holes are in the back. Congratulations!! you made your drawer box. Drawer boxes can be hard but with this method it makes it 10x easier. No need for fancy joinery. Thank you to Corbin from @hellowayhome for talking me through building drawers. Go check out their services, it’s amazing! #drawerslides #drawerbox #diytutorial #woodworkher
