This Great Depression era #chocolatecake recipe has stood the test of time. It may just be the best chocolate cake you will ever have! #EasyRecipe #mayonnaise #cakerecipe #deliciousfood #dessert  Ingredients for cake  2 cups AP flour 1 cup white granulated sugar  1/2 cup light brown sugar  3/4 cup cocoa powder  1 1/2 cups hot coffee or water  1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder  1/2 teaspoon salt  1 cup mayonnaise  1 teaspoon vanilla extract  Directions  Start by placing cocoa powder in a bowl and pour coffee over it. Whisk together and set aside for 3-4 minutes to allow cocoa to bloom. In a mixing bowl add all of your dry ingredients and mix. Add bloomed cocoa, vanilla and mayonnaise. Mix until well combined. Grease and place parchment paper in the bottom of two 8” round cake pans. You could also use a 9x13” pan for a single layer cake. Evenly divided batter into both pans. Place in a preheated 350* oven and bake for 30-33 minutes. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove and allow to completey cool.  Ingredients for frosting 24 oz dark chocolate  2 cups heavy cream 2 teaspoons vanilla extract  4 tablespoons softened butter  Directions  Place heavy cream in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Pour over chocolate and let sit for 5 minutes. Then whisk until smooth. Add butter and vanilla and whisk again. Allow to cool for about 20 minutes.  Assemble the cake by place one cake round on a serving dish. Add 1/3 of frosting to the top. Add the other layer of cake and the rest of frosting. Bring frosting down the sides of cake. Finish off by placing cake in refrigerator for about 15 minutes to let the frosting set a bit more!
